Starting a new system is only worth the time if getting set up does not take longer than the benefit justifies. KitchenWeather was built for kitchen operators who have limited administrative time. This guide walks through the setup process from start to first completed check.

Before You Begin

You will need:

• A smartphone, tablet, or computer with internet access
• Your kitchen's address (for weather-linked alerts)
• Approximately five minutes

You do not need to download an app from a store. KitchenWeather is a web application — it runs in your browser on any device and can be saved to your home screen for app-like access.

Step 1: Create Your Account (2 minutes)

Go to mmoww.net/food/app/signup and create your account with your email address. You will receive a confirmation email — click the link to verify and activate your account.

During account creation, you will provide:

• Your name (or the name you want on the account)
• Your kitchen's name
• Your kitchen's address — this is used for weather data; it is not shared externally
• Your role (owner, manager, opening staff)

Step 2: Kitchen Profile (1 minute)

After verifying your account, complete your kitchen profile:

• Type of establishment — cafe, restaurant, bakery, food truck, etc. This helps calibrate the morning check prompts to your operation.
• Number of staff — so the system can suggest appropriate prompts for single-operator vs. team kitchens.
• Notification preferences — confirm or adjust the 06:00 Morning Shield notification time.

Step 3: Your First Morning Check (2 minutes)

You do not need to wait until morning to try the system. From the dashboard, select "Start Morning Check" and walk through the prompts:

Temperature Check

Enter the current temperature readings for your refrigeration equipment. If you do not have a thermometer handy during setup, you can enter approximate readings now and note that this was a setup test. Real readings start with your first actual morning of use.

Equipment Status

Confirm the status of your key equipment: walk-in cooler, reach-in refrigerators, hot holding units. Running / not running / temperature concern.

Handwashing Stations

Confirm soap, paper towels, and hot water availability at your handwashing stations.

Food Protection

Confirm covered storage and visible food protection status.

Pest Observation

Any evidence noted this morning? Yes/No and space for notes.

When you submit, you receive your first SAFE TODAY status. Your streak begins at Day 1. Your Trust Memory record contains its first entry.

Step 4: Understand Your Dashboard

After your first check, take two minutes to review the dashboard:

• SAFE TODAY status — visible at the top. Green when today's check is complete, waiting-state when not yet done.
• Streak counter — your current consecutive day count and badge level.
• Trust Memory timeline — your check history, scrollable by date.
• Morning Shield preview — tomorrow's weather-linked alert preview, based on current forecast.

Step 5: Save to Your Home Screen

For kitchen use, save KitchenWeather to your device's home screen for one-tap access. In most mobile browsers, this is done through the browser's Share menu (iOS) or the browser menu (Android) — look for "Add to Home Screen."

This makes it behave like a native app without requiring an app store download.

Adding Staff Access

If staff members will complete morning checks on your behalf, add them to the account from the account settings. Each staff member uses their own login credentials. Their check completions count toward your kitchen's streak and Trust Memory.
