What is KitchenWeather?

KitchenWeather is a daily food safety operating system for cafes and restaurants. It delivers a morning opening checklist, tracks your safety record over time (Trust Memory), awards badge levels for consistency (streak system), and provides weather-linked alerts that flag days with elevated food safety risk.

Who is it for?

KitchenWeather is designed for small to medium food service establishments: cafes, bakeries, restaurants, food trucks, and any kitchen where the operator is directly responsible for daily safety management. It is particularly suited to NYC establishments operating under DOHMH standards.

How long does setup take?

Approximately five minutes: account creation, kitchen profile, and your first morning check.

Do I need to download an app?

No. KitchenWeather is a web application. It runs in your mobile or desktop browser. You can save it to your home screen for app-like access without going through an app store.

Pricing

How much does KitchenWeather cost?

$49 per month per kitchen. No setup fees, no per-user fees, no hidden charges.

What is the Founding Member program?

Founding Members who join early receive their pricing locked permanently. If you join at $49/month, that rate never increases for as long as you remain subscribed.

Is there a free version?

The current model is a paid subscription. There are no setup fees and no long-term contract required.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. Cancel at any time with no cancellation fee. Export your records before cancelling.

Features

What is SAFE TODAY?

SAFE TODAY is the daily status your kitchen earns by completing its morning opening check. It is a daily confirmation of practice — not a permanent certification or official rating.

What is Morning Shield?

Morning Shield is the daily 06:00 push notification that delivers weather-linked food safety information and prompts your morning opening check. When the heat index is expected to exceed the USDA 90°F threshold, Morning Shield flags the day for heightened temperature attention.

What is Trust Memory?

Trust Memory is your kitchen's continuous record of completed morning checks — timestamped entries of temperatures, equipment status, findings, and corrective actions. It grows more valuable over time as a documented history of consistent practice.

What is the streak system?

The streak counts consecutive days of completed morning checks. As your streak grows, you earn badge levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Missing a day resets the streak count, but your Trust Memory history is always preserved.

DOHMH and Food Safety Standards

Does KitchenWeather replace DOHMH inspections?

No. DOHMH inspections are mandatory and independent. KitchenWeather helps you build consistent daily safety practices, which are a genuine advantage when inspections occur.

Is KitchenWeather aligned with DOHMH inspection priorities?

Yes. The morning checklist covers the areas most frequently assessed in DOHMH inspections: temperature control, handwashing stations, food protection, and pest monitoring.

Does DOHMH accept digital records?

DOHMH inspectors review records in various formats and are generally comfortable with digital alternatives. Confirm with your inspector if you have format-specific questions.

Data and Privacy

Does KitchenWeather share my records with DOHMH?

No. Your records are private. KitchenWeather does not share data with any health authority. Showing records to an inspector is your choice.

Does KitchenWeather sell my data?

No. KitchenWeather does not sell, license, or share your operational records for commercial purposes.

Who owns my data?

You do. Your records are yours, and you can export them at any time.

How is my data secured?

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest in KitchenWeather's database. Row-level security policies ensure one kitchen account cannot access another's records.

Does KitchenWeather work on a tablet?

Yes. KitchenWeather adapts to tablet screens with a wider layout. A mounted kitchen tablet is a common and effective setup.

Does it work offline?

Yes. The morning checklist is cached for offline completion. Records sync when connectivity is restored.

What devices are supported?

Can multiple staff members use the same account?

Yes. Staff members with account access can complete morning checks. Each check records who completed it.

What if I have multiple kitchen locations?

Each location requires its own subscription at $49/month. Each location has independent Trust Memory, streak, and SAFE TODAY status.
