Structure the hour into four blocks: 15 minutes on AI basics, 15 minutes on company policy, 15 minutes on hands-on practice, and 15 minutes for Q&A. Use real examples from your company for maximum relevance.
How to Train Employees on AI Compliance in One Hour
The One-Hour AI Training Plan
This training plan is designed for non-technical employees who need to understand AI rules without becoming AI experts. It covers everything a typical employee needs to know in a focused, practical session.
Block 1: AI Basics (15 Minutes)
Start with what AI can and cannot do. AI is good at drafting text, summarizing information, brainstorming ideas, and formatting data. AI is not good at guaranteeing accuracy, understanding context, keeping secrets (data entered may be stored), or replacing professional judgment.
Use a live demonstration. Show a task relevant to your company being done with AI. Point out both the impressive output and the errors that need human correction. This makes the capabilities and limitations tangible.
Block 2: Company Policy (15 Minutes)
Walk through your company's AI rules using real scenarios. Do not just read the policy aloud. Instead, present situations and ask what the right action is. Example: You need to analyze last quarter's sales data. Can you paste the spreadsheet into ChatGPT? Answer: No, financial data is red category and cannot go into AI tools.
Cover approved tools, data classification, review requirements, and disclosure rules through practical scenarios.
Block 3: Hands-On Practice (15 Minutes)
Have participants complete a simple task using the approved AI tool. Choose a task relevant to their daily work. After generating AI output, walk through the review process together. Show how to check facts, verify accuracy, and improve the output.
Block 4: Questions and Commitment (15 Minutes)
Open the floor for questions. Address concerns honestly. End by having each participant sign the policy acknowledgment. Provide a reference card with key rules and the contact person for AI questions.
Materials Needed
Your company's AI policy document, a one-page reference card with key rules, access to the approved AI tool for demonstration, and three to five scenario cards relevant to your business. Prepare these the day before the training.
